Yesterday's Open Day at the Slovenian Forestry Institute took place under the warmth of a summer day and was filled with boundless children's joy, creativity, and exploration.
For one day, our green grounds beneath Rožnik were transformed into a true outdoor forest classroom, where more than 400 children discovered the secrets of forests, forest animals, plants, wood, natural sounds, and the work of forestry experts through play, exploration, and creative activities.
The children's creativity was at its peak as they created moss artworks, explored animal tracks, listened to the forest, observed tiny organisms through magnifying glasses, and learned how important healthy forests are for our lives. The imagination of our young explorers and all workshop facilitators once again demonstrated that science can be brought closer to young people in a playful, engaging, and memorable way.
The event was given an extra spark by the live broadcast and filming of the TV program Dobro jutro from RTV Slovenija, which followed the activities among the children, workshops, and explorations beneath the tree canopies.
A heartfelt thank you to all our researchers and colleagues, participating institutions, teachers, educators, and volunteers for their excellent cooperation—and above all, to the children for their curiosity, laughter, and enthusiasm, which filled our institute with life.
See you again next year!
