A forest of experiments We are a dedicated group of researchers at the Slovenian Forestry Institute working in the field of environmental education, knowledge transfer and science promotion. We carry out our educational work according to principles and methods of forest pedagogy.

Forest pedagogy is one of the approaches of environmental education, which is related to the forest and our relationship with it. Forest pedagogy appreciates, encourages and promotes the forest as a healthy and innovative learning environment for outdoor learning and uses active educational methods that strengthen mutual cooperation and promote sustainable development.

 

We cooperate internationally into the network of forest educators, which operates under the auspices of Networks of European forest communicators.

• we present good educational practices in natural environments,

• we raise awareness about the importance of environmental education for sustainable development,

• we encourage creativity and develop innovative methods in the educational process,

• we encourage the transfer of knowledge and the inclusion of forest science in the curriculum of environmental education of kindergartens and schools,

The forest is an excellent place for experiential pedagogy and environmental education, as it is an endless source of both tangible things and less tangible ideas.

​

Education for pedagogues are intended for all those involved in pedagogical work with children (educators, teachers, scouts, campers, etc.). They are conducted by domestic and foreign experts and educators.

​

Forest pedagogy offers countless opportunities for holistic learning in nature, as children gather new experiences, arrange them, connect them, upgrade them, expand their interests and develop a positive attitude towards nature. With training, we want to pass on our knowledge to you, and at the same time, we want to inspire you to create new and interesting activities that will take children out of closed spaces and classrooms into nature to gain knowledge and experience.

Outdoor classroom - workshops for children and youth!

 

Through fun and attractive content, we take children into the world of forest science. Our classroom is a forest, and we transfer part of the learning and play also to the interesting happenings in our laboratories.

​

Activities are dynamic and interconnected. Therefore, children always participate with interest and leave with new knowledge. 

​

The contents are adapted to the curricula of kindergartens and schools. In addition to regular workshops, in cooperation with other institutes, we also develop and implement workshops for children with special needs.
