Open day in Forest Week 2017

Have you ever raced a fast forest stream or counted a wolf's teeth? Or attended a conversation between land animals and plants?

All this and more was experienced by many young curious people who visited  on Wednesday, May 24Forestry Institute of Slovenia in Institute for Forests of Slovenia.About 200 children and adults entered through the doors of the Forest of Experiments and visited 14 workshops.

In the spirit of this year's Forest Week theme – Forest knowledge, the children were able to peek into the researchers' laboratories, where through a magnifying glass they could see forest life hidden from the naked eye and find out whether colors also differ in taste. On a forest walk with the forester, they got to know who is who among the trees and what their everyday life is like. The weather was under control all the time, as the children diligently followed the events in the weather house. In the case of a cold front, they would already know how to warm up, as they learned about different ways of heating with wood biomass. Those few modest raindrops were quickly chased away by the sun. Anyway, it was at one of the workshops, mushrooms as after heavy rain. From the mysterious world of fungi, the children were taken to a visit to the bear and then to other forest animals.

There was no end to the forest adventures. The cuckoo, who prefers to live in the wall clock instead of in the forest, began to announce the time of departure. Well, nothing for that. The forest will wait and will surely surprise again on the next visit.

Thank you to everyone who celebrated with us!
